It seems like half a lifetime ago as I walked the chilly Florida shore with a friend who would one day be more like a brother. We had traveled down with our wives to celebrate in our mutual friends' wedding.

I don't know remember exactly when I met Trevor.

I know enough about music to know that he's holding a guitar.

I know enough about music to know that he's holding a guitar.

We walked that beach that day and talked about life, being married, how amazingly wealthy everyone seemed to be in the city we were in.

I remember earlier that same day the two of us were standing outside a restaurant waiting on our wives to come out and Trevor pointed at the car parked on the street in front of us.

"Have you ever seen a Ferrari up close?"

A few years later we were with some other friends in Atlanta to see the U2 360 tour. During one of the songs Trevor leaned over to me and said, "That's a SUCH and SO guitar that The Edge is playing."

From where we were sitting I could barely tell which one was The Edge. Much less see the guitar he was playing.

Good lord we look so stinkin'  young in this photo.

Trevor didn't know the guitar by looks. Rather, by the sound it made told him what he was listening to.

Now, even though I haven't the foggiest what one guitar sounds like over another, I do realize that Trevor isn't unique in this ability.

It's something that comes with a deep interest and desire for the musical arts.

That interest and desire is what I love most about Trevor.

Sure he's a great husband and amazing father.

Sure hear a guy I can call at a moments notice to help me with something. All that is true. He's a friend I can trust any conversation to remain private.

But his appreciation for music and his diligence to continue to practice and work on the craft is what I love the most.

Plus, being around talented people with creative minds energizes me.

You are a talent and a friend Trevor Mathiesen.

Oh, and I'm can't wait to tell everyone about the project we are now working on!
